Two-Toed Tobias and The Goonies

Confessions of a Geek Mom

the goonies

My gamer child has been loving 3BC.   She has gotten 8 out of 14 rares soloing with the help of the wiki maps.  It does a geekmom’s heart proud to look over and see my daughter slashing her way through Kobolds and Pirates.  I love getting tells from her while I am playing about what she has just accomplished.

Before she left for camp, she tried soloing Two-Toed Tobias.   I guess she made it pretty far into the quest before deciding to head off to bed.  So that Saturday afternoon,  Geekdad and I decided to run her through while we ate lunch.

Off we went.  An adventuring family!  Geekdad and I were prepared with many quotes from The Goonies because Two-Toed Tobias always brings out the 80’s kid in me.  Our poor gamer child had been neglected.   She had never seen the movie. ….

We ran through the quest with…

Taking Somebody Through Something New

Erdrique's Blog

Over the past weekend, I had the opportunity to take another Crypt Crawler through some content he hadn’t seen quite yet.  Although my guildie (Dynammo) never stopped paying for his subscription, he did stop playing for while.  He actually stopped playing prior to Menace of the Underdark being released and returned back to the game within the past year or so.  He has actually been exploring in a lot of the quests out in Eveningstar and has created and played around with most (if not all) of the iconic characters.  However, there was still some quests he still hadn’t quite seen yet (not counting Update 27 of course, which was just released after the weekend).  Some of these quests include those in the Web of Chaos chain.

Although Dynammo is pretty active, his playing time is sporadic and depends on gaps of time opening up for him around his personal…

Finding the Seal

Tactalicious & Craftalicious

We ran through the dark, damp underbelly of the city – light drew long shadows across smooth wet brick, encrusted with moss and slime. We’ve run for an hour. Fought hordes of Kobolds trying to seal the entrance to the hobgoblins because they were enslaving them. Acid bolds scorched my armor – magic missiles dissipated against my magic night shield. Their blood slick across the sharp edges of our weapons and deaths – blood staining our armor and skin.

We hacked ourselves through a city of hobgoblins underground lair. Freeing their apathetic slaves that kept on milling around, unaware that their masters had been destroyed at our hands. We felt the hard blow of the earth elementals as we crushed their living rock. We killed the hobgoblin leader surrounded by spell casters, slayers and wolfs. They danced as the sphere cast it’s reflective irresistible light. The sundered, smoldered and burnt…

Making the Move

Erdrique's Blog

Over the past couple of months, I have been in the process of transferring our guild website from one host to another.  Our previous guild website host was Guild Portal.  However, to Guild Portal’s unreliability and instability I had decided to move to a different guild hosting service.  This was extremely unfortunate.  We had bee with Guild Portal since 2009 and I really enjoyed their service and products.  Guild Portal has a tremendous amount of functionality having forums, blogs, guild banks, character pages, albums, calendar, ability to create widgets, and many other items.  Of course that functionality means absolutely nothing if you can’t access it :(.

In the wake of all of these troubles, I went ahead and started to look at other hosting services.  It basically came down to Enjin and Gamer Launch.  I went ahead and created a guild website at each host and started to…

Chrono-licious!

Even Now

Last night I noticed that I was just 40 Turbine points shy of being able to afford another adventure pack, so I checked my favor-farming toons and discovered that Liai had just one “real” quest under her belt (the intro one doesn’t count). Two Korthos quests later, she passed five total favor and got the 50 points since she’s my first and so far only toon on Ghallanda, and I had 360 DDO points just clamoring to be spent.

I debated a bit – Reaver’s Reach would be great for Even, although I don’t have any other toons high enough to get any use out of it yet; and Necro II was tempting since I already have Necro I. But I’ve wanted to run Chronoscope for a really, really, REALLY long time, so it wasn’t really much of a decision to pass up Reaver’s and Necro II for the Devil…

Hark, The Herald Angels Fight

The Order of Syncletica

I'm captivated by the erinyes, red-winged and powerful. Why am I attracted to bad girls? You'd think one divorce would fix me of that. I’m captivated by the erinyes, red-winged and powerful. Why am I attracted to bad girls? You’d think one divorce would fix me of that.

Real-life and work have definitely curbed my blogging efforts of late, leaving me little precious time to complete the substantial updates in The Book of Syncletica with builds and what-not, as well as general help here and there in the player-base. A crisis caused me to miss a scheduled appearance as podcast guest on DDOCast last week, which vexed me greatly. I can’t provide enough apologies to Shamgar and anyone who tuned in.

So I’m trying to make up for lost time and posts by going straight to a brief talk on the new release of Update 27: “Trials of the Archons.”

For past update, the most we’d seen of the Good-aligned celestial forces in the battlefields of Shavarath are skeletal remains of fallen archons on…

Some Nice Surprises in the Latest Monster Manual

Erdrique's Blog

Update 27 Trials of the Archons was released yesterday and one of the new features what was released with it was a new volume to the monster manual.  I figured that the majority of the monsters that were being added in the latest volume would be primarily centered around the new quests out in Shavarath, focusing mostly on devils and demons.  However, I was quite surprised yesterday when I logged in with Erdrique (Level 15 Rogue) and took him into the Desert Caravan and noticed a monster manual deed going off for scorrow, but then I thought that it meant for scorpions and I had read it wrong.  After I completed the quest I then took a look at what new additions that were added to the monster manual and saw that scorrow were indeed now a part of it.

Minotaured

Tactalicious & Craftalicious

I did the first lordmarch quest with my half orc at level 10 (it’s a level 12 mission). I used a bard hireling. Haste and displacement for the world.

It wasn’t easy, but there’s something satisfying to explode all that raw power and hitting Fighter haste boost together with haste is just share, brutal and unapologetic mayhem.

Or to put it in the best way possible – orc power attack and all that half orc extra damage makes one really sticky and brutal situation very quickly.

So when I hit 12 I figured I’d do the Minotaur village mission – having done it with the other two capped on elite I had a general understanding just how frantic it can get.

I always start by clearing the outskirts and picking up all the pieces and then as I come full circle I stone the guards outside the gate and repair…

On Connecting with Others Through the DDO Subculture

Citi Plays DDO

Gorgeous Sunset! Or Sunrise. Not sure which. Gorgeous Sunset! Or Sunrise. Not sure which.

Sorry about the lack of pics in this post, but I forgot to take screen caps again. XD Please forgive me, as I’m still new to this! Also: the game can be too darn addicting sometimes!

Last week I spent some time on the Cannith server. I was invited by someone to join his group on that server, and- not having any better options at the time- I did.

Chris and Greg were lots of fun. We had a lot in common and enjoy a lot of the same things. So, when the whole thing finally did happen, we had a blast. They’re great guys! If you’re on Cannith (or thinking of porting over), look us up! You can find us on Twitter at @Citiplaysddo and @rayceroyal. We’d be happy to have you join us!

We started off with level 4’s. As I…
