You lost me with your elitist nonsense

Tactalicious & Craftalicious

Over the year I’ve played all sort of quests and raids. With all type of groups. Before we had all the top gear. And there was times when I had to link beaters and tell people about my build.

Twice now today I had to link my beater and also tell people what ED and whatnot. Because you know, DPS.

The first time I got in, doing an EE defiler and we did just fine. I died twice, both in egregious lag blobs,

In the LE shroud I didn’t. Apparently 1600 ave crits using a bastard sword with 60 doublestrike wasn’t good enough. Granted, this is just a guy that can mass stun without issue (just as I did in defiler). They come out of portal, mass stun and then a couple of cleaves later they’re mince meat.

People who say that average 1600 crit is low because they play…

DDO Fail

Bio Break

So tonight we’re grouped up in DDO, doing one of the explorer areas, and we get so utterly lost that we decide to “deathport” back to town.  One hot jump into lava later, and we all pop up in our respective taverns, ready for Round 2.

All except our leader, Orvidos, who got sent aaaaaaall the way back to the very beginning of the tutorial.  As in, the very first thing you see when you start a new character.  We have no idea why it happened, although we suspected it was a combination of him using vet status (rolling a new character at level 4) and not having bound at a tavern yet.

There was much amusement in guild chat (except by him) that our group literally failed so badly that the game punished us by making our leader start the game over.

Bravo, Turbine.  That takes guts.

Questing during the Week, August 25th to August 28th

Erdrique's Blog

My questing this week was quite diverse.  It started off with a typical Monday morning slayer run prior to work with a character on my premium account, Crawller (Level 5 Ranger).  Crawlller just started exploring the Tangleroot Wildnerness zone and is enjoying taking out his aggression on the wolves, spiders, and hobgoblins in Tangleroot.  Later that afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 16 Druid) who ventured out in the Ruins of Gianthold for the first time during his druid life :).  While I was out there, I took him through the quest, Trial by Fire (in the Troll Caves) and burned my way through it without any troubles at all on elite.  Later on Monday night, I logged on with Harrgon (Level 10 Favored Soul) and I took him out into Three Barrel Cove and ran the quests Guard Duty and Prove Your Worth on elite.  He also started…

Hitting 30

Tactalicious & Craftalicious

I’m trying to get as many of my guys to 30, just to have a good selection to draw from. I already got my second Arti (the crafter) to 30 and it was great when I finally could start using the bee shootin’ rune arm. I love that thing. It’s hard to argue against such a monumentally terrific rune arm and combining that with some terrific chack-chack-chack repeater play goes a long way.

And he’s not entirely incompetent with tactical detonations either. I was thinking about using some of the runes to get him one of those sage armor for insightful Focus, but then I noticed the rune arm had all the insightful evocation he’d need.

So thunderforged it stays. And adding those goggles from the latest f2p with Quality +4 helps. All in all with random and later on crafted I won’t really have to mess around with him…

Rounding It All Up

Me Vs. Myself and I

Wow. I haven’t had a gap between posts this big in a very long time. My blog is starting to look like it did during those years when I only posted once a month. I don’t like it, and I tell myself every day that I should write something but I hate feeling forced when it comes to my writing. I enjoy having passion about what I’m writing, or at least having something I feel that needs to be said. At this point, something needs to be said so that everyone knows I’m still alive. So yes, I’m still breathing and living and going about my day to day stuff that is mostly boring but sometimes exciting. I’ve actually had plenty of things I could be sharing but at the end of the day I don’t typically feel like writing it out. Then time passes and the thing I wanted…

Mixture of Runs, April 28 to May 1

Erdrique's Blog

This week I had a mixture of some epic level runs, mid-level runs, and a set of lowbie runs.  Early on Monday morning, I logged on with a character from my premium account, Suppply (Level 8 Paladin).  I was originally scheduled to take Suppply into the Tangleroot Gorge explorer area but realized I had finished that explorer area (slayer, rares, and explorer points) so I then took him into Three Barrel Cove started to rack up slayers, rares, and explorers in that zone.  I had some taking Suppply into Three Barrel Cove for the first, swinging his dwarven battle axe around to take down the multitude of pirates.  After picking up a few explorer points I called it for the morning to head to work.  I logged on later Monday afternoon after work and prior to dinner with Erdrqiue (Level 10 Druid).  Erdrique currently has level 11 banked and is…

How to make the ultimate caster combo

Tactalicious & Craftalicious

We all know that lore, plus spell power plus DC and spell pen makes a caster.

The more the merrier.

And we also only have so many gear slots.

Ultimately you want to max out your preferred spell power. That’s easy for warlocks and savants; both specializing on a set of spell powers.

It’s harder for shiradi caster types and Wizards that generally try to be as potent as possible for a wider spell selection. Not just power wise but also for DC.

To help people puzzle together the mosaic of gear needed Turbine have released a lot of features both crafting and straight named item from level 26 and forward, towards that final push at level cap.

This all depends also in large on whether you play robot or fleshie. Both finding similar items to use with some differences when it comes to armor. But in general the same…

Awful Free to Play Games Launching on Steam

MMORPG Weekly

What on Earth compels game developers to release obviously awful games? At a certain point in the development cycle, you’d think someone would step in and be like, “Wait a minute. THIS is our game? This blows – let’s cut our losses”. Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen nearly as often as it should, as the free to play section of Steam was recently blessed with a turd of an MMORPG this last week called Destiny of Ancient Kingdoms. I’m normally pretty easy on free to play games, after all – they’re free and it didn’t cost me a dime to play, but Destiny of Ancient Kingdoms is a unique game in that I find it offensive. First of all, it launched in 2016, but looks like it came out in 2006 or 2007. Hell. It looks a lot like Last Chaos, Shaiya, or any other old Korean MMORPG…

Top 10 Bio Break’s most-posted categories

Bio Break

moria

As a blog, Bio Break has been trucking along since late 2008. That doesn’t seem very long ago in my mind, but looking at a calendar, I realize that we’ll be hitting the 10th anniversary of this blog before too long. With that much time passed and thousands of posts under my belt, I thought it might be interesting to look at my categories and see which have garnered the most attention over the past 8.5 years. So here are the top 10 categories for Bio Break to date:

1. Lord of the Rings Online (411 posts)

Far and away the number one, aside from the “general” category (which I’m not including in this list). It’s not surprising, considering how many years I played LOTRO regularly, covered it for Massively, and pretty much turned this into a LOTRO fan site. Last LOTRO post was back in July.

2. Picture of…

DDO Ranger Build (Deepwood Stalker)

Citi Plays DDO

Elven Deepwood Stalker Build

[Author’s Note: My apologies to those that have patiently (or not-so-patiently) waited for this week’s post. This one was a bit more difficult than the previous build posts!

This is no introductory build. The Deepwood Stalker build is a build for players that are more advanced.

I’d like to thank Forum user Gary782 for posting this build. I used it as a basis for my own build. There is much I have changed, and you’ll find the original build here. The actual build I use can be found here.

screenshot00173 Am I a hero? Of COURSE I am!

Benefits

  1. Advanced Tactics: Good build for when you graduate from the basic builds.
  2. Multiple Roles: Support, healer, and Offense.
  3. Versatility: Whether you need to melee or range your targets, you’d good to go.
  4. SLAs: Spell Like Abilities such as Arcane Arrows, and others make archer builds viable…
