Maidae update; Epics

Micki's Delirium

My first and so far only TR Maidae hit 20 on Wednesday and early this Sunday I wanted to take her into her first epics: eH VON 5-6 and eH ADQ 1-2. My exceptions were to suck badly and to die easily. Turns out that her dps is maybe a bit low for epics hards still (took me a while to take out single mobs solo), but I had the right wraps, and my +3 paralyzing handwraps of pure good would even work in eH. 🙂 in VON6 I was right up there with the melee during fire (Maidae still has just under 500hp) and I I don’t remember noticing taking any damage at all. Maidae got just over 100k xp from VON5 (first time ever running it and on eH) and something like 40?k from VON6.

Forward looking

Tactalicious & Craftalicious

With the Risia Ice games I have upgraded several weapons to either frost or cold burst. I figure since I had a bunch of hot chocolate left over from last time.

It’s a good thing too since I don’t have any GS weapons and therefore need whatever advantage I can get until I do. But it did make me go through my regular pile of dusty weapons (storage) and found several really good ones; like 2 weapons with elemental bane – one of them with greater. Or 3 and several paralyzing weapons. Since I am now level 14 I can use all of those.

And I’ve set up reasonable combos to suite most situations – which includes bows with holy burst, shock burst and one with holy and greater gnoll bane and the shock one with hobgoblin bane.

That’s good, if not a little messy; it would be easier to…

The journey of 1,000 miles starts with a single die roll

The Long Shot

The other day i rambled on about D&D and i’d like to keep the die rolling with that so let’s dive back into it, shall we?

i touched on a common stumbling block for new and/or hopeful players, and that’s simply getting started. Before concerns about playstyles, published vs. homebrew or any of the like enters the equation, the big hurdle for both those who have never rolled up a character and folks who used to play long ago is: where to begin?

i’m here to tell you that it’s not as challenging as you suspect. Perhaps a bit more esoteric than tabletop board games contained in a box with codified rules that fit on a single sheet of paper, a board, a few tokens and some six-sided dice that can be played at the drop of a hat by a handful of people, sure. But D&D can just as…

Hegruth’s Labyrinth

Dyson's Dodecahedron

In the valley of the eight spires there was once a massive sandstone labyrinth that separated the various structures here and was part of what made it such a holy site. But in the wars that followed the sundering of the faith, one group of heretics gleefully destroyed as much of the labyrinth as they could – both the natural portions and those worked by centuries of divinely inspired stonemasons.

All that is left of the labyrinth are the piles of rubble slowly disappearing into the desert valley and a few traces of it around the last of the eight spires at one end of the valley and at the entrance to Hegruth’s Shrine at the other.

Hegruth's Labyrinth Hegruth’s Labyrinth

The shrine itself was looted in the fighting and then lost. Rediscovered a century later it was looted once more, then the last artifacts of the cult of Hegruth were returned…

Summer Vacation 2013

Micki's Delirium

Hello boys and girls and warforged. 🙂

In Finland if you have a permanent position at a company, and you have been working for more than 1 year, you are entitled to 4 weeks of summer vacation, that you can either split up, or use all in one go. I prefer to stay away from work for 4 weeks in one go, to get a proper break from all the stress and daily routines. My vacation started July 1, and I will back at work again July 29. It’s been sunny and warm in Finland, and I’ve been trying to work on my tan a bit. 🙂

Even after 1.5 weeks of vacation, I still haven’t gotten all the things done that I had on my list. I still need to do some shopping and cleaning, and I haven’t been to the gym at all. I’ve seen my friends some…

Go forth and game

The Long Shot

It’s been a lean year for me in the writing department, at least in terms of reporting, having segued away from newsroom editing and journalism into design work that carried me from my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio to Austin, Texas (and then back again).

What i have been writing, and reading, and watching and playing is a lot of Dungeons & Dragons, which likely comes as no surprise to anyone who knows me or picked up on any of the countless subtle or overt references i’ve made right here.

tiamat

In lieu of any reporting gigs, i settled on steering this ol’ blog towards my favoritest of favorite pasttimes. A friend and i have been talking about perhaps starting a YouTube channel or podcast about D&D as well. But i don’t know much about how to do that and i already have this site going. i can talk about D&D all…

Cannith, Cannith, Cannith

Micki's Delirium

As you all probably know, I don’t level fast. On Cannith we level even slower, since we only run together for a few h/ week. I TR’d September 3rd, and this Monday we took lvl 9. I can’t say about the others builds or their plans, but I am still pretty excited about my zombie. Yes, she’s a zombie. With level 9, she got her 3rd level of monk, and I noticed an increase in dps. She’s currently 2 rogue/ 3 monk/ 4 wizard. The next 2 levels will be wizard, before the next lvl of monk, and she will be getting vampire form at lvl 11.

I also noticed an increase in speed with the monk lvl, and she hits really fast now if I hop out of zombie form (and much faster than a normal zombie). 🙂 Oh, and if you didn’t know, she’s a quarterstaff melee (and…

My two MMO gaming strategies as of late

Bio Break

blog

At the beginning of 2016, I think I was focused on my new year’s resolution of trying to hunker down and commit to a single MMO for the bulk of my playtime. Now that the year is counting down its final days, I’m once again scattered to a good half-dozen or so titles. Instead of knowing exactly what I’ll be playing on a particular night, my evenings have become more fluid and shifting.

Since I certainly don’t have enough time to devote to all of the games equally and in great quantity, I have been resorting to two different strategies that have served me well. Nothing super-new, even for me, but I thought I’d talk about them once more.

Strategy #1: The blog post night

Sometimes I work pretty far ahead here on Bio Break; for instance, this post for Wednesday afternoon is being written on Sunday afternoon. I like…

New Mic

Samius Gurobo

For those that might not know. This last year or so i have been working to build my stream up. Streaming for 40ish hours a week is a lot harder then i first thought and a big part of that is the effects of wearing my headset for long periods of time.

So with that in mind, today is a special fundraising stream with the goal of upgrading my microphone today. I will be streaming mostly non-stop for the next 24ish hours or until i pass out at the keys.

You can support me by joining me on the stream http://www.twitch.tv/samiusgurobo

Or you can kick me a buck or two @ tinyurl.com/samiusfunding just a link to my GamerforGood account.

I am also hoping this will be a nudge to get that twitch partnership though and for that i need a numbers boost. Please if you have the time swing by…
