E3 2021 attempted to return strong after cancelling its event last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and although vaccines are rolling out, this year’s showcase launched on a virtual-only platform.
A portal system was created, allowing fans to sign-up and create an avatar, while those providing media coverage was given early access by one week. A few of my colleagues experienced some portal issues. I did as well to the point where I gave up and watched the livestreams through Discord with friends. The four day event itself was filled with highs and lows from several developers and publishers. Our own Eddie V. provided an excellent recap in this review article.
