Sony’s press conference at the annual CES event (formerly known as Consumer Electronics Show) included the reveal of the next-gen virtual reality headset for the PlayStation 5 console, dubbed the PlayStation VR2 (or PSVR2). At the event, Jim Ryan, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO, discussed various features for the headset and the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers, as well as a new Horizon game, Horizon Call of the Mountain, built for the PSVR2.
In a PlayStation.Blog post, Hideaki Nishino details the technology and features of the PSVR2, including 4K HDR, 110-degree field of view, and an OLED display. The PSVR2 also includes eye tracking, headset feedback, and 3D audio. The PSVR2 Sense controllers will utilize haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, similar to the DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5.
